“In A Well Stocked Farm , Still Stands a Teve”
Their Royal Majesties, King Tupou IV and Queen Nanasipau’u opened all the Royal Agriculture and Fisheries Shows for all the outer Islands including Tongatapu.
His Majesty, King Tupou IV royal speech says “In a well stocked farm, still stands a teve” which was the Royal Agriculture and Fisheries Show theme for this year. His Majesty also mentioned that all our Islands are wealthy in food mostly our traditional foods, crops especially our marine resources from the ocean.
He also mentioned that if there comes a time that we might be affected by famine, we’ll always have our traditional foods because each island has their own well stocked inland food resource to satisfy them in time of need.
Their Majesties visited all the outer islands with the first Show in Vava’u, followed by the Niuas , Ha’apai , ‘Eua and Tongatapu. The Prime Minister, Samuela ‘Akilisi Pohiva including other guests was in attendance. The Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food, Forestry and Fisheries, Hon. Semisi Fakahau and both CEO’s, Viliami Manu and Dr. Tu’ikolongahau Halafihi attended all of the programs including the Royal tour of the Special Management Areas (SMA) in Vava’u with a luncheon at ‘Ovaka.
The Royal Agriculture and Fisheries Show were hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food, Forestry and Fisheries.
