More than 1,500 baby sea cucumbers (8 months old) were released on the 24th of August into the sea as a result of a hatchery trial at Sopu Mariculture Centre.
This is the first release of sea cucumber juveniles. It is part of the stock enhancement programme under the Aquacultre Research Section at the Ministry of Fisheries. The spawning trial was successful which was led by JICA expert Mr. Ryo Sazaki with the help of the Aquaculture team.
